Wardrobe Details: Bring on the Cold

If I can get away with wearing a jumper and leather jacket in the snow (and not freeze) then I think I have my go-to outfit sorted all winter.

That’s right, we’ve had snow! From what I can tell it’s only being a northern thing so I was feeling pretty grateful to romp around in it and take in the snowscapes this weekend. We brought a flask of mulled wine with us too. Living the dream guys. Living the dream.

To stay warm in winter I usually opt for the warmest coat I have (which is this Lighthouse Clothing parka jacket) but the past few weeks while the weather has been to-ing and fro-ing I’ve decided to focus on my layers. Of course, the jacket doesn’t keep me dry like my trusty parka but on those days when the forecast is a little snow, it’s fun to take a risk. And if my feet are dry, then that’s all that matters. Layers, I finally understand you.

So I teamed my green and black striped dress with a roll neck jumper and my trusty faux leather jacket alongside my thick leggings, bobble hat (the pom-pom has seen better days) and an extra pair of ankle socks. I had a scarf and a pair of gloves with me also but I was already warm after the brisk walk up the hill.

What I did need of course (because at the drop of a hat I might need to leg it through all terrains after my four-legged pooch) are walking boots. These are my new Berghaus Women’s Expeditor AQ™ Trek Walking Boot which have been introduced to all kinds of wintry-hell over the past couple of weeks; wet leaves, puddles, mud, snow and tricky (slippery) terrain. They’re great boots and they’ve kept my feet dry, comfortable and supported, ideal for walking Polly in the Calder Valley. They’re currently reduced by 30% at £70, and make a great gift if you’re looking to add hiking to your New Year resolution list.

After some frisbee/mulled wine action we found our way back in to Hebden Bridge, via the pub, thankfully just before the rain started (Rain, did you not get my last memo?!).

What did you get up to this weekend?
