10 Alternative Ways to Display Art

Spring is almost with us and with it comes the temptation to give our homes the once over for the new season (and tidy up all the mess after months of being indoors). Like adding a new lipstick to my makeup bag, I like to keep it simple when updating our home using three inexpensive and easy interior updates that can brighten any room in the house; swapping furniture and homewares from room to room, decorating with plants and adding art.

The latter has always been the most effective in that it can actually inspire the rest of your home decor too; I’ve used colours in one of my favourite paintings to inspire the style decor of the rest of the room. Plus you’re guaranteed to be surrounded with something you love, that is unique to your home. If however, you’re like me, and you have a stack of art prints and photographs that are waiting to be framed then look to alternative ways to display your favourite posters, prints and photographs instead. Alternative ways to display art Hanging frame via Apartment Therapy | Shelves via Future and Found

Hanging frames are great for artwork of all sizes but I especially like poster sized prints displayed like this. The floating shelves are great way to prop up smaller artwork and give this wall a contemporary feel; you could even include other objects too to create a more bespoke display.Haykin Magnetic wooden framing knobs Clipboard via Design Sponge | Magnetic Wooden Framing Dots via Haykin

For a home office or bedroom, using a clipboard or magnetic framing dots to hang artwork is an effective and easy way to update your walls.Alternative ways to display art and photographs Washi tape via Brit & Co | Cork walls via Camera Link

We all have washi tape, right? Add a contrasting colour tape to your wall colour to brighten up your photographs. Once again, great for the office, the kids bedrooms or as part of a gallery wall.

If you’re up for a Easter DIY project why not try installing a cork wall and pin your artwork to it directly. A brilliant idea.King & McGaw Coat Hanger via Passionshake | Gallery wall via King & McGaw

Using objects that you already have in the home for a DIY is the best feeling ever. So dig out those nice looking coat hangers, my friends. Or, if you are winning at life and have your prints framed and ready to go, why not try creating a gallery wall of prints of different sizes and shapes. P.S Who are you? Why can’t I be this organised?Hanging art Hanging Mobile via Fawn DeViney | Bulldog Clips via Project Palermo

To display photographs, I love the idea of hanging memories from a branch using twine. Or dig into your stationery supplies for the biggest bulldog binder clips  you can find and display your favourite film or music poster in style.
