Hebden Bridge

At Home: Patio (Part 1)

I really don’t want to discuss the weather, I really don’t. But, oh my! Hasn’t it been grand? It’s been a bit rainy and temperamental over the past few days but it did feel nice to feel the rain again and hear it tapping on our bedroom skylight (I know, I’m strange). Plus it saves me a job of watering the plants outside. Score!

We only have a small garden (the price you pay for living in Hebden Bridge) but it’s the perfect size for us to manage. I’m no Charlie Dimmock after all. It’s separated into two parts, the top patio which you see below and the bottom patio that needs a little attention. We also share a community garden on our street which will hopefully become home to more vegetable beds and a greenhouse soon; I’m looking forward to learning from our green-fingered neighbours.

To celebrate spring, and being able to happily potter outside once more, the delightful Flamingo Gifts kindly sent me a few Orla Kiely gifts to enjoy including a flask, lantern, mug and plant pot. Take a look at them below if you too love all things beginning with Orla and ending with Kiely.

Orla Kiely Flask, Plant Pot, Mug and Lantern c/o Flamingo Gifts

Ah garden pottering with endless tea and cake, is there anything better? We need another trip to the garden centre to actually make our space look like a ‘garden’ but in the meantime I’ve been caring for seedlings (herbs and strawberries), repotting house plants, planting pretty lavender in pots (because I’m too impatient and want to see pretty flowers already!) and trying to decide which bedding plants to have alongside our back wall. I’m thinking hardy plants all the way. Oh, and because I loved my new gifts, I decided to buy the bird house too. Cue, bird watch!
