Hebden Bridge

Lately: Easter

simplify your life
Hello there! Did we all have a grand Easter? Technically I’m off today too but I’m checking in while doing a bit of social media homework for work (I’m obsessed) and thought I’d write a catch up post too.

So a little of what I got up to over Easter: booking hen do trips for May bank holiday weekend, paying off our Glastonbury Festival balance (so excited!), babysitting my nephew and niece and making Easter nests and playing Scalextrix, walking the hills of Hebden Bridge, having lazy naps, eating lots of chocolate, reading, seeing my mum and dad, going for birthday drinks with friends and going to sleep very late while watching Interstellar on the projector. Or for the finer details…

spring recipes

When spring lands, as does a new outlook towards food. I’ve been really enjoying time in the kitchen lately and reading recipe magazines and websites for inspiration. Lots of wraps were eaten over the past few days!

Aldi Port

Aldi were kind enough to send me a hamper of booze and chocolate before Easter for me to try out the ultimate pairing experience; a very grown up Easter treat! My favourite pairing was the Fletcher’s Fine Ruby Port and Moser Roth 85% Cocoa Chocolate. The natural sweetness and full bodied Port was a perfect complement for the strong chocolate, and after eating a lot of sickly sweet milk chocolate Easter eggs it was nice to eat and drink something much darker and full bodied. Take a look at the Aldi website for more drinks and chocolate pairing ideas.

spring pampering

For most women, applying moisturising cream to their body and doing their nails is more of a daily ritual. For me, it’s once in a blue moon. Over the winter months the only part of my body that gets moisturised is my face, and nails only get painted when I have a spare moment. Now spring has landed, I’m ready to start making time for a little pampering; my feet especially need a little TLC!

brogues

Yay brogues! I’m so happy that I can finally get my ankles out and wear all my favourite flats again. P.S We’ve only had 2 days of sunshine, I might be getting ahead of myself!

countryside

Lots of long walks in the countryside. After 6 years of living in Hebden Bridge we keep stumbling on more walks deep into the country. This walk was my favourite, taking us through woods, fields, crags and babbling brooks. We saw 3 deers (I screamed with excitement and might have scared them off!), pheasants, horses and ALL the sheep. Followed by a long lazy afternoon in the…

the miniaturist

I started reading The Miniaturist and so far love it. It took me a while to get used to the style of writing but I love the setting of the book and the atmosphere Jessie Burton has created is fantastic. I’m going to pick it up again tonight!

babysitting

Babysitting my niece and nephew and then spending time with my sister and brother-in-law. I love watching Ruby copy everything Dominic does, so cute! P.S These were flowers Dominic picked for me and his mum!

flowers

These were an Easter treat to myself. I love thistles.

music faves

The morning after the night before! Does anyone else wake up to records and CD’s scattered all over the floor and on every surface?

fire

Appreciating every last chance we get to use our open fire before it gets too warm at night.
