Lately: Happy Distractions and Birthday Celebrations
I’m filling my days with happy distractions right now. Squeezing every last drop out of working weeks and weekends and trying to ensure that they include smile-making activities. Two of which, walking and baking, I’m hoping are going to turn into habits, and happy habits are the best kind aren’t they?
Working freelance three days a week means I can be flexible with my time and change around my working hours when needs be. When Wednesday hits I usually hit a brick wall so I’ve decided to make mid-week happy habits and juggle my time, ever so slightly. First up, is walking with my dear friend Julia. Granted, we’ve only done it once but we’re planning fortnightly or weekly walks up into the Hebden hills to try inspire our freelance brains and discuss ALL the important things, like boys, banana bread and tunes.
Fully equipped for our adventure with walking boots, rain mac and tote bag in hand our fortnightly adventures are set to be only a happy distraction from stressy life stuff. Plus I get to buy a morning coffee from the train station to set me up for the walk. Good takeaway coffee is the best. Take a peek of our first adventure; sheep, views and two girls jumping!
P.S Note how Julia looks all dandy and sweet when jumping, and I a complete berk? Gonna have words with that girl.
My second weekly habit is baking. A mid-week bake in fact. I baked banana loaf last week and I’m convinced it spurred me on that afternoon at work. It also spoilt my tea, but who cares. I still need to decide next week’s bake but I’m contemplating biscuits!
Other great things have included giving our bedroom a makeover (more on the blog soon). The best thing about the room update was sorting out a man with a van to get rid of our cardboard boxes and junk that we’ve gathered since the move. I can’t believe how empty our room looks now! Next, built-in storage. Yes indeed, exciting stuff!
Finally, it’s my birthday on Monday so we’re both having a 4-day weekend and celebrating a long fun-filled jaunt consisting of films on the projector, walks with ham and pickle sandwiches (cut into quarters), a party with family and friends, Sunday pottering and naps. Then for my birthday we’re off to Leeds for a bit of culture, shopping and cocktails. Tuesday, I’m hoping for more naps. Yay!
Have a super weekend, y’all!

Love these pictures! I’d love to live further into the countryside- there’s nothing like exploring to let your brain free for a bit 🙂 x
Lisa
Thank you! That’s exactly it. I love working from home but the hills are always the perfect tonic to get my brain working again : )

I just discovered your blog through the ‘similar’ blogs on Bloglovin’ feature and I’m so glad I did! I love these ideas – I feel a bit of a slump mid-week too sometimes, and a good constitutional to get the blood coursing is always a good idea! 🙂 Lovely pictures too…what gorgeous views. Off to delve into your archives! x

Love these pictures – midweek walks and bakes sound like a perfect way to balance the week. I just walk to work and that helps me feel good, and I hope to get back into baking this week.
Happy birthday!! xx
