I don’t really have a spring/summer wardrobe apart from a few extra key accessories and a couple of pairs of ankle cropped trousers to update my usual look. You see that little bit of pasty white skin below my black trousers? That’s about as much flesh I will comfortably bare until I’m forced to don a summer dress. Nevertheless, spring is here and the blue skies have been tempting us into a new wardobe between showers, so with my ankles at the ready and a little help from TK Maxx I raided my wardrobe for some inspiration.

To make an easy ready-to-wear spring outfit for those days when you want to dash out of the house as soon as the sun appears, I tend to keep my look simple like yesterday’s choice of ankle cropped trousers, a Breton t-shirt and cropped denim jacket. Then, using key accessories like scarves, tote bags and ballet pumps, you can add a little extra personality mixing colours, textures and patterns for an outfit with a bit more oomph.

Ready to flash your ankles? To add a spring in your step this season, rummage through your drawers for all of those scarves you’ve collected throughout the years (I have a vintage suitcase full of them!), unpack your pumps (pop in a new pair of fresh insoles) and scour your wardrobe for hats, jewellery and your favourite tote bag! P.S Don’t forget your umbrella. Ahem.

What’s your perfect spring accessory?
