10 UK Art and Craft Classes
It’s never too late to start afresh, learn new skills and be inspired, especially as this year seems to be passing us by so quickly – how is it May already, folks? Inspired by my friend who has recently started a Surface Pattern Design course I thought I’d share some art and craft classes throughout the UK for the creative so-and-so’s that read my blog (and to kick me up the bottom to learn something new).
I’ve been in two minds about going to a class for a while now (I’m currently practising yoga via YouTube – unsociable missus) but I’m also aware that being creative and learning new skills is the one thing (par my OH and chocolate) that keeps me going. I’d love to learn how to screen print or to make my own clothing but the social part of it has always put me off. Having said all this, I am tempted to buy something suitable as a retirement gift for my mum – maybe a one day workshop to ease me her in would be perfect? Strength in numbers, my friends.
Take a peek below at some great looking courses/workshops if you fancy stepping out of your comfort zone too…
Learn to Crochet, Knit and Stitch, York. // Upholstery Courses, Ministry of Upholstery, Manchester // Biscuit Icing, I Made It Myself, London // 2 Day Dressmaking Course, The Craft Studio, Nottingham // Design a Silver Ring via Red Letter Days, London.
Print Workshops West Yorkshire Print Workshop, Mirfield, West Yorkshire // The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design, online // Essential Skills: Basic Alterations The Make Lounge, London // Lamp-Shade Making The Makery, Bath // Cake Pops Class, Red Letter Days, Surrey.
Do you attend regular classes or have any workshops booked?

Oh I love doing courses. I’ve had to postpone my sewing course as childcare is a bit of a logistical nightmare but I’m looking forward to getting back on the creative wagon again in the Autumn.
Thanks for all the links sweet! x

Ahh great post! I sew and knit and teach myself lots of crafty things and I run a little knitting club but it would be so awesome to go and learn a new skill as part of a group. I’d especially love to go to an upholstery class as I have an old granny chair that needs recovering.. Hx

I used to live in York and go to Knit and Stitch. It’s where I first learnt to knit! Love this post. I’ve been looking to find a dressmaking refresher course in London but they’re all so pricey. May just bite the bullet and attempt to figure out how to work my sewing machine again after 4 years!

Loving this list!
It’s a bit funny, but even though I’ve been learning one craft a month as my project this year I haven’t yet taken any courses or workshops to do it! Youtube and good ol’ books have been my teachers. I’m learning with a mentor this month, though. We’ll see how it goes. 😉
