Hello there! I’m Lisa. Thirty something blogger, freelance writer (design, fashion & lifestyle) and marketing officer for an independent cinema. I live in a peachy town called Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire with my partner in crime, and our golden retriever Polly.
Mathilde heart Manech is a happy lifestyle blog featuring a few of my favourite things - home, style and the great outdoors. You’ll also find posts on simple food, Yorkshire adventures, Roller Derby escapades and my home and style edits to add to your shopping list (sorry!).
Happy reading!
P.S The blog is named after two characters from one of my favourite films - A Very Long Engagement. Manech is pronounced ‘Maneck’ by the way!

It won’t let me directly comment on the blog without setting up my own blog! So I’m writing here…loved todays blog about the nine things 🙂 Made me very happy! Big love, Emm xxx

Hey Lisa.
Your 5 positive things posts had me hooked- I kept on going further and further back until i’d read them all.
Great work. Love it.
Lovely to find a UK based lifestyle/diy/craft blog - my blogroll mostly consists of US based blogs so will be eagerly reading your posts from here in Oxfordshire! Best wishes Lisa
Hi
could you give any tips on starting up a blog especially technical side - where did you look for help? I’m just starting out but feel bewildered as to where to start.
thanks
ps. your blog is amazing and inspring
Hi Helen!
Starting out is basically a learning game but worthit in the long run. I used wordpress.com so I didn’t need to work out much technically apart from making a banner for my site (Use free online photo editing platforms like Pic Monkey). I then moved to a self hosted blog 3 years later, once I knew blogging was for me.
Google is your friend, there are so many tutorials out there. Join twitter and read hashtags #lbloggers (lifestyle blogger) #fbloggers (fashion bloggers) etc for insider tips. You’ll also find some great blogs along the way, which might inspire you to carve out your blogging niche.
Bonjour Blogger is a good website for advice.
Hope this helps a bit! Let me know how you get on! x
Hi
I love your blog. Can you tell me which camera you use? I’m just a beginner and want to attend a photography class and you need an SLR camera. Some of them are soooooo expensive. Can you recommend any? Your photos are fantastic.
thanks
Hello there! I use a Nikon D3100 and I LOVE it. It is perfect for starting out and I’m hoping to get another lens for it as soon as I have learnt the basics etc. Around £250 new I think xx
P.S Thank you for lovely comment! x
Dear Lisa,
Have just stumbled across your blog, it is delightful! Looking forward to having a comb through the archives soon.
Wishing you a lovely day from Sydney, Australia (where the weather today is probably more like that of Yorkshire, from what I’ve read! (which suits me quite well, I love the rain))!
Thank you for your lovely comment! Yup, you’d love it here - rainy rain every day! Have a great week 🙂
