Home and Style Finds: A Few Birthday Picks

I always feel guilty shopping for myself. I’m not sure if that’s an adult thing? But when there’s money that could be spent on joint things for the house, holidays or put in to savings, money spent on & Other Stories loveliness or a new notebook seems a bit of a frivolity. It’s nonsense really, we all deserve the odd treat, but I feel a sense of relief when my birthday comes around and I can treat myself to a few guilt-free goodies. My birthday isn’t until March mind you, but I can start browsing now, right?

We’re finally getting round to sorting some book cases for our attic bedroom (see our recent bedroom makeover here) which means the office will finally be empty of cardboard boxes (3 years on!) and our books will have a proper home. So the top of my birthday list, is a pile of new shiny books. I have a list as long as forever.

From left to right:

I don’t need a new notebook but how about this Napoli Leather Journal (£29.90) from Pen Heaven for an alternative Valentine’s Day gift? Cute, huh?

I was gifted some new makeup c/o Know Cosmetics and by far my new favourite addition to my makeup bag from the brand is the No Dark Shadows (£15) from Superdrug. It’s a concealer, that I use under the eyes and to highlight other dull areas, and it’s amazeballs – better than Touche Éclat. There, I said it.

On my birthday list is this Grey Slogan Sweatshirt (£22) from Next. It’s currently out of stock but you can pre-order for delivery in time for MY BIRTHDAY. Ahem. I love the cute pj shorts the model wears in the lifestyle shot too!

I prefer to wear more minimal style clothing nowadays, but it’s nice to offset that with bold and unique jewellery. I adore these Spiral Hoop Earrings (£12) from Oliver Bonas – their accessories game is strong.

Aldous Harding is on my February playlist and I’m looking forward to her new album Pasar de las Luces coming out at the end of the month. I love that I still get excited about new music releases.

If you’re looking for a great candle I can wholeheartedly recommend the this one from Murmur.  I featured it and other goodies on the blog a few weeks back but have since burned it and it is by far the best scented candle I’ve used in years (and currently only £12!). Even the OH commented on how nice it is!

I think 2018 is the year I don a pair of Dr. Martens, 22 years after owning my first pair. Well, it’s either the original boots or the Chelsea style ones. Hmm? Boots and winter coats are a big weakness of mine.

I’m looking for a new crossbody bag to perk up my spring outfits but instead of opting for black I’m looking for a khaki bag. This one, although a little out of my budget, is lovely – (£69.99) from Zara. The one from M&S listed at the bottom of this post is really cute too.

It’s two weeks until I get a phone upgrade (not that I’m counting) so a new phone case is definitely on the cards. This Dotted iPhone Case (£8) from & Other Stories is peachy.

Also from the same shop is this Sicilian Sunrise Roll on Perfume (£12), perfect for adding to your handbag or purse. This would make a lovely and affordable Valentine’s gift too, right?
