Happy 2018

Hello 2018. How are we all, chums? I’m popping in to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year and I’m hoping you enjoyed lots of joyful moments to enjoy over the festive period.

I’ve heard plenty of people say they are looking forward to getting back to their regular routine, come Monday, but to be quite honest, I’d like some more time off please. I love my jobs and lifestyle January through to December, I really do, but I love being on holiday more.

It took me a good week to feel relaxed after the festive period but this last week has been more chilled, spent sleeping, cooking, drinking good wine, visiting Salts Mill, seeing family, reading (read my first book – Devotion by Patti Smith) and walking Polly; all with the luxury of knowing I had all the time I wanted to enjoy such simple things. Oh and I managed to go to my first Roller Derby training session of 2018 and survived! Fitness 1, Mince Pies 0.

I think the Christmas break has been a big reminder to me that I need to work out a better work/life balance. It was ridiculous how stressed out I was before finishing for the holidays and I certainly can’t wait another 12 months before I feel this releaxed again! I’ve realised I need to get organised with my freelance work like I am with my permanent job then I know I’ll feel much better about taking the rest I need. But that’s another blog post.

It’s taken me some while for my brain to work properly again, so it’s only been in the last day or so that I’ve started to think about the year ahead. 2018. Can you believe it? This year will fly by like the rest so I’m not wishing away January for Spring, I’m going to use the month to try to enjoy the smaller things that I’ve enjoyed over the last week, if only in the evenings and weekends. Look out for my intentions for the year in the next blog post.

Now back to leftover Christmas cake and sofa time…

Happy New Year once more 2018 gang!
