Good Vibes Only

Exploring on foot with Polly means I really get to see and feel the seasons each day and although much debated, I felt like we had a decent summer this year (minus the last 2 weeks) so I am ready and willing for the season of scarves, hot chocolate and open fires. The autumn equinox starts tomorrow and I’m ready, chums.

It’s the time of year when I feel at my most inspired, squirreling ideas into new notebooks, nesting at home (and nestling into blankets), awaiting A/W film releases (Blade Runner 2049 almost here!), and prancing in my favourite clothing; this season’s fashion is the best. I hope you’re embracing the season too!

Here’s some of the things that I’ve been happy about lately:

Trips to Manchester | I was invited to the launch of Beaumont Organic’s concept shop 49 Hilton Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, and what a treat that was. If you’re in the city take a trip to the shop and discover beautiful and chic clothing, luxury artisan home and accessory pieces and creative workshops for those wanting to learn something new.

Lotus | I work hard on my blog but I feel very fortunate to work with Lotus again. I’ve raved about this brand time and time again, especially when it comes to boots. They simply know how to make stylish, beautifully crafted and comfortable footwear, without it costing the earth. This season I’m styling their Rubay Leather Heeled Boots (£59.99) and they’ve not been off my feet the past 2 weeks since the weather turned. I’m a little bit more aware about what I put on my feet nowadays having had metatarsalgia (my foot is better by the way!), but even these block heel boots are comfortable. I’ve been wearing them with skinny jeans mostly, but as soon as the tights come out, I’m looking forward to pairing the with a dress or two.

P.S They took an outing to End of the Road Festival and survived an impromptu mosh pit during Ty Segall too!

Home improvements | I’ve been doing DIY in fits and starts this year but I’m ready to crack on again with some home projects, as well as hiring tradesmen to do jobs that we can’t do. One of those was fitting an extra plug socket in the kitchen, so we can finally use our coffee machine again (there wasn’t room anywhere else). I’m so happy we have it back! A gift from my MIL, not only does it make great coffee, but the milk steamer can be used for hot chocolates too – perfect timing. It’s all over my Insta Stories at the mo!

Outfit details: Trench Coat from TK Maxx | Skinny Jeans from House of 925 (from The Piece Hall) | Striped Top from Primark | Block Heel Boots c/o Lotus | Bag c/o Dash

Great Yorkshire Showdown | There’s a chance I might be playing my first Roller Derby bout in October at the Great Yorkshire Showdown tournament in Leeds (Sat October 7th) – I’ll know nearer the time if I’m selected. If you’ve always wanted to watch Roller Derby live then you can buy a ticket here. The tournament will see six teams play two half-hour games each, with the two most successful going on to compete in a full-length game for the winners’ title, which the Bruising Banditas won last year. Wish me luck if I play, and that we hold the title! Plus, send positive vibes that my metatarsalgia doesn’t return in the meantime.

Memory Walk | I’m walking the Leeds Memory Walk on Saturday, and supporting my sister and niece as they raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society on behalf of my dad. I’m not asking for sponsorship (we did the Yorkshire Three Peaks earlier in the year and I don’t want to be cheeky!) but if you’d like to donate to my sister’s JustGiving page you can do here. Thank you!

Creative Day | For ages now I’ve been talking to a friend (another freelancer) about having a productive get together each month to discuss ideas and goals, and help each other out a bit. I’m so excited that we’re actually going to do it, starting from next week. I’ve already got a list of things to discuss, and a list of admin jobs for me to finish.  Tea and cake will also make an appearance, no doubt.

What’s on your good vibes only list this week?

Such a fab list. I know what you mean about having a fur friend and feeling the seasons – I did our first wintery night walk the other week and spent the next day searching the house for the light up collars !
And I’m feeling the diy too. I’ve put a ban on things happening weekends in October so we can rip out our bedroom and get it re-plastered! x
