Walk + Eat: Flapjack

I mentioned in my previous post that there would be a new blog series on Mathilde heart Manech. Welcome to the first instalment of Walk + Eat; simple and homely recipes to accompany outdoor adventures.

I decided to incorporate my love of walking with something I’d like to do more of – making homemade food. Whether that be snacks for the Tupperware box or food for the flask, I’m hoping I’ll soon have an array of simple and delicious recipes to fuel us on our walking adventures. And if you love the great outdoors and a backpack full of homemade goodies, I’m hoping you’ll find some inspiration too.

Today’s recipe is flapjack like my mum used to make. This tray-bake is sweet, chewy (with delicious crispy edges), and the perfect accompaniment to your flask of hot tea. Save the image below for ease or pin to your Food/Outdoor boards on Pinterest for later!

Recently, my walks have been short and closer to town due to nerve damage in my foot (thankfully we have good friends and a dog walker on hand), but the foot is getting better and I’ll be sharing Calder Valley adventures alongside my next recipe soon.

P.S did I mention we’re hiking Ben Nevis?! That’s another story, I’m going to need all the tray-bakes to get me up that mountain!
