Good Vibes Only ft. Lighthouse Clothing

Lifestyle blogsLet’s talk for just a minute about how great it is to finally enjoy summer; the never-ending ice cream, paddling in the river with the pup, daisy chains, cheese and wine picnics followed by lazy weekend naps…ah, it’s grand ain’t it.

Naturally I’ve had a good moan about it too because, you know, I’m only human (and British); when you sneeze and break a sweat, enough is enough my friends. But in true Good Vibes Only style I’ll take the good over the negative any day…more ice cream anyone?
Here’s the simple things that’s been giving me joy lately.

New clobber Oh hey, Lighthouse Clothing new SS17 collection. Aren’t you lovely? Crafted with care and thoughtful attention to detail* the Lighthouse SS17 collection is all about finding joy in life’s simple things, which of course fits this blog post perfectly. The Bowline shower (c/o Lighthouse) and windproof rain coat is the brand’s first rubberised rain jacket and it’s the perfect light cover-up for popping in your bag in preparation for what Mother Nature has in store. I think she’d approve.

* I love the yellow contrasting logo on this coat.

Buying my dad a couple of pints Spending time with my parents has become difficult over the past few years, that’s for sure. It’s very hard seeing them both not at their best and being powerless to help. But there is nothing I or my family can do but try to appreciate every moment we spend with them, especially my dad. Buying him a pint of Landlord beer recently and seeing him laugh out loud was a joy. I have no idea what we’re talking about 90% of the time but he’s still with us, my dad. I’m living in hope that in my lifetime a cure is found for Alzheimer’s but in the meantime I’m soaking up all the funny things he says and enjoying the sparkle in his eyes.

If you’d like to sponsor myself and my family for next week’s Alzheimer’s Society Yorkshire Three Peaks I’d really appreciate it. You can read more about that here. Thank you so much.

Opening the windows wide I don’t know why it makes me happy to open the windows in the morning. I guess it’s a little ritual that’s wakes me up to help me start the day; breathing in that first breath of fresh summer air from our very own home.

Riverside fun We may not live by the seaside but we’re only a stones throw away from the river and there’s still lots of fun to be had there. Riverside picnics, skimming stones and paddling with the pup were the highlight of my week.

Finding calm in nature Minus Polly chasing the odd squirrel (that always sends me into a panic!) being outdoors amongst the bumble bees, ducklings, lambs and horses has been a much needed tonic after the last month in this country of ours.

Feeling hope Considering the chaos that is our government right now it’s the first time in years that I’ve felt hope for this isle of ours. Whatever you think of Jeremy Corbyn I think he’s shown true positive spirit in face of adversity and that’s something I’m proud to support in a leader. Change is coming and I can’t wait.

Polly turns 2 We’ll be taking her on her favourite walk, treating her at the Lamppost Cafe (human and hound cafe) and giving her all the cuddles and more. Look out for a traditional annual party hat photo on Instagram!

What are your simple things that have brought you joy lately?

P.S Don’t forget to enter the JYSK homewares giveaway but hurry, it ends soon!
