A Week in Walks #5
Hello there! We decided to go on an impromptu day trip to Lytham St Annes with family at the Bank Holiday weekend for a touch of sea air and to introduce Polly to the seaside, now that she is a fully fledged member of the Aquaphile club. Now I know I’m supposed to document a week of walks in this post (not that you care I’m sure) but for a change I though it would be nice to share a spot of sea, sunshine and coastal loveliness to cheer up the week.
I’d always dreamt of taking Polly to Bamburgh in Northumberland (my favourite beach) for her first seaside visit but instead we opted for somewhere closer to home just over an hour away. I was so impressed with St Annes beach! Once the tide went out the beach went on for miles and in the dog friendly area, Polly could spend lots of time off lead chasing us and the waves. It was one of those perfect sunny days where only ice cream and beach pottering would do. Polly had a blast!
We didn’t see much of the area but can highly recommend the beaches for quiet and calm, and the promenade, although a little more touristy, wasn’t too busy at all to be honest. I’d like to explore a bit more next time and maybe try more beaches south of the seaside resort.
I’m so pleased we found a decent beach that’s close to home that’s dog and human friendly too. I grew up going to practically empty beaches in Northumberland and Scotland (I think I’m more similar to my mum than I think) so I’m always on the lookout for the quieter spots with only seagulls for company – Lytham was perfect for this.
If you’ve never been I’d recommend parking by the Beach Cafe (inner promenade) if only to sample their ice cream (Polly had dog friendly frozen yoghurt!).
Tell me you Lytham St Annes must-do tips for our next visit. Do you have a favourite beach in the UK?

Hi St Annes Beach Huts ( which you have lovely photos of) are pet friendly. We have hired one for the day and taken our dog. I didn’t know about the frozen yogurt for dogs though. X 🙂

Ooh that’s good to know! Yes, I think the dog frozen yoghurt was called Frozzys? ????
