At Home: Painted Stairs Makeover

I’m so pleased to be collaborating with Ronseal again on another DIY/home improvement campaign. You might remember our painted wood store DIY last year? This time round I’m focusing on the indoors and a project long overdue; painting the wooden stairs leading up to our attic bedroom.

Our stairs have been like this since we moved in. I think when the renovation of the attic bedroom took place the previous owners still had a few jobs to finish but they ended up selling it in the meantime.

We’ve walked up those stairs for the past 2 years thinking we either need to paint or carpet them but have either prioritised other projects or have been putting it off entirely. You know how it goes.

Ronseal invited me to take part in their Beat the Procrastination campaign to tackle at least one of our DIY or home improvement jobs that we’ve been putting off. And with another bank holiday in sight it might inspire you too!

I used the Knot Block Wood Primer and Undercoat in white to prep the floor which took me 40 minutes to complete (then 4 hours drying time) followed by two coats of the Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Paint which you can use on stone, concrete or wood floors. I am so pleased with the finish! The stairs feel much brighter now and the actual project was much easier than I thought (I did it solo), you just need to be a little patient between coats (use the drying time to enjoy your bank holiday weekend).

I’ve written a list of all the projects big and small that we need to tackle in the house and I’m going to try hard to complete the smaller ones more often knowing now that it doesn’t take as long as you think to get these things done. Plus painting is a great bank holiday project as you can use the drying time to do the fun stuff and get back to the job when you like (when it invariably rains).
