A Week in Walks #3

I’ve been doing a lot of walking over the past week or so whilst I’m still on holiday/staycation. In previous years our days off would have been spent very differently but now they pretty much revolve around our walks with Polly, followed closely by the pub, of course. It might be quieter and less eventful (depending on Polly’s antics) but I wouldn’t change it for anything. It seems I enjoy the slower pace of life, with a healthy dose of Project Runway/Riverdale/Gilmore Girls thrown in for good measure, natch.

Calderdale has a great choice of walks which can all be discovered from the hubbub that is Hebden Bridge, and spring is the perfect time to discover them, if you’re a fan of blooms, ducklings and outdoor picnics that is.

Today’s A Week in Walks photos were taken just before the Easter holidays over that particular sunny weekend that most of the UK enjoyed (ah, those were the days), as well as a few photographs from my daily walks with Polly.

We’re trying to add more hills to our walks in preparation for the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge we’re doing in July so we headed to an old favourite, Stoodley Pike.

I’ve worked out that I hate walking up hills, chums. I mean I really don’t enjoy it. So I’ve no idea how I’m going to attempt 26 miles, with half of it being uphill in just over 2 months but I’m determined to get myself up them, and to raise funds for Alzheimer’s. I’m hoping my Roller Derby thighs might come in handy somewhere along the way but I realise I need to train harder and look after myself over the coming months.

Have you been outdoors lately? What’s been your spring highlights so far?
