5 Sleep-Friendly Bedroom Decor Tips

Sun-kissed skin, cold beers in the sunshine and opening the windows wide on a bright sunny day. Spring is here chums and I’m appreciating it more than ever. Not only has it made me want to explore the outdoors more than usual but it’s made me more proactive at home and work too; spring has added a little oomph to my everyday it would seem.

So as not to waste a drop of this unprecedented motivation, I’ve been doing a spot of spring cleaning at home, concentrating on my wardrobe and bedroom.

Today on the blog I’m sharing decor ideas that will not only add a seasonal update to your bedroom but help to make it a more sleep-friendly, zen like space (no Buddha statues required).

1| Clear the clutter from key spaces in your bedroom; your bedside table, drawers, wardrobes and windowsills – the main places you see and use every day.  If you have the energy and motivation, carry on and declutter under the bed or other ‘hideaway’ spots.

2| Choose calming colours and textures in your bedroom to create a restful and open space that YOU feel relaxed in. Repaint the walls (some colour choices below), or if you live in rented property switch up the decor with rugs, curtains and bedding (choose 100% cotton duvet covers and pillows for extra comfort).

Look at earth tones and soft muted greys, greens and blues for extra shut-eye vibes and if you’re missing your favourite vibrant hues add pops of seasonal colour using flowers, that will add natural scent to a room too.

3|Update your mattress to improve the quality of your sleep. Opt for a high quality mattress that doesn’t retain heat like memory foam, keeping the sleeping surface cool and fresh in summer and warm in winter. The German made Bruno mattress has a springy/bouncy top layer made up of sustainably farmed naturally hypoallergenic latex. Followed by its 7-zone support foam base, designed to contour the body for extra comfort and support. For added peace of mind they also offer free delivery and a 101 Night trial. P.S There’s a £50 discount on orders by Monday 17th April if you use the voucher code ‘Easter50’ at the checkout.

4|Create a calming space with plants and remove toxins from the air. I will say this time and time again but plants are the quickest and cheapest way to update a room’s decor and improve your wellbeing too. Read the Bruno blog for ideas on indoor plants that will improve your sleep. Who’s visiting the gardening centre this weekend?

5| Look to invest in black-out curtains and/or blinds for those brighter spring mornings when it’s not quite time to wake up. For a quick fix buy a sleep mask to banish any distracting artificial lights prior to going to sleep at night (street lamps, portable screens or porch lights).

What decor projects are you doing this spring?
