Interiors: Woven Basket Storage Ideas

I’ve got a couple of interior projects on the go at the moment. One to make a gallery wall on the stairs and landing (I’m collecting photo frames as we speak) and secondly updating and organising our entryway.

Whilst pinning and shopping for ideas and accessories I’ve stumbled across lots of inspiration to help make the most of the entryway/porch using different types of storage. One of those is the humble woven basket.

We’ve got a few large baskets scattered around the house that we mainly use to store blankets and towels but whilst looking for storage ideas I found there are lots of smart ways to use them.Whilst affordable they can make a room look natural, warm and homely and they adapt well to most spaces too. They come in all shapes and sizes, and the high street is in on the act so you’ll be able to find one, two or four for your style and budget.

Not convinced? Here’s 10 uses for your humble woven basket…

1| Blankets. Keep them in the lounge and bedroom, at the end of the bed or under a bedside/coffee table.

2| Tea towels Place tea towels in a small basket in a convenient space in your kitchen.

3| Plants Hide ugly planters with a stylish basket to add warmth to any dreary corners.

4|  Dog Accessories Need a place to store the muddy lead, collar and harness? Pop them in a basket by the door ready for a wash!

5| Towels Have one specifically for the dog only and place it near the door ready to catch those muddy paws.

6| Magazines I try to pass on my read magazines to friends once finished but I still manage to have piles left. Tidy away your favourite editions and store on a shelf.

7| Firewood We used to store our logs and kindling in baskets by the fireplace but Polly liked to eat the wood so we kept them out of sight. She’s better behaved now (watch her go and chomp away on kindling now I’ve said this) so I’m looking forward to our next fuel delivery and storing  our baskets with pride. The fireplace is my favourite spot in the house.

8| Laundry An obvious choice yet our laundry lives in the spare room and bedroom in plastic baskets,  and even in the bath tub sometimes (?!). I love how organised and stylish the three baskets look at the rear of the bed in the photo below.

9| Bathroom accessories Use baskets to store loo rolls, toiletries and makeup accessories.

10| Dog/kids toys Like clockwork on an evening Polly picks out a toy from her basket (stored under our coffee table) and then repeats until all toys have been played with. It’s super easy to tidy them away at the end of the day and the basket of half chewed toys don’t look half as bad stored in a pretty basket.
