Lately: Days Like These

Outfit details at the bottom of the post

Well hello there chums. Did you have a grand weekend and are suitably geared up for the week ahead? I’m going to quickly gloss over the fact that these weeks are whizzing by. I’m not going to lie, it’s starting to freak me out. HOW is it almost March? And don’t I say this every single month? Just a reminder, I guess, that time is fleeting and to crack on with fully living well. My highlight of last week was making delicious soup so I think I might need to up my game a little…(I do love the simple things mind you).

February so far has been filled with colds, Roller Derby injuries and lots of sleep so I’m ready to end the month with a little focus and productivity. I definitely feel I’ve had more energy these past few days even though, once again, I’m experiencing all the pain after Sunday’s RD training (I will get used to it, I’m sure).

The weather this weekend was the business. I couldn’t resist ditching my coat and baring my ankles for all to see, for a Saturday afternoon canal walk to the pub.

Adding a spring to my step were my new FitFlop Sporty-Pop X Lizard Trainers c/o my friends, Shoetique. I simply cannot  describe how comfortable these shoes are, perfect for weekend jaunts and busy feet! They’re versatile enough to dress up or down but as always I prefer to keep it casual. And if they’re good enough for Uma Thurman (I love her)…

As for the week ahead I’m going to play catch-up with freelance work, and aim to get a little organised with home life and exercise. If I’m lucky I’ll fit in a cinema trip to watch T2 Trainspotting this week and begin planning our holiday to Florence in the summer. Have you been? Tell me more!

I have been… in fact, I lived there for almost 4 years! Despite this I have a measly two posts on my blog about it, one is my fave gelaterias and the other is recommending foodie experiences/where to eat. If you want any more info though, I have masses on the best things to see and places to go, for example the Farmacia di Santa Maria Novella- 16th century perfumer and pharmacist in the most stunning old monastery, so Instaworthy and the smell is divine!. If you’re going for more than a few days I can recommend other cities/towns to visit too. Not so great on accommodation recommendations as obviously I had my own place and friends always stayed with me, but I am sure you can figure that out. I would say the Oltrano is a more ‘real’ part of town to stay in, a genuine Florentine neighbourhood, but the other side of the river is nearer the tourist stuff, but it’s a tiny city so nothing is ever far away!! Feel free to get in touch for specific info! Xx
