Thoughts on…

Outfit details at the bottom of the post

I’m writing this on my way home from a hen do weekend in Bournemouth and I’m absolutely shattered, on a standing room only train back home. But I’ve had the best weekend with friends and lucky enough to be heading home to a warm house (and bath) to then watch the BAFTAS and Taboo with my two partners in crime. So all is grand. Whilst I nurse my hot chocolate (and a Walnut Whip – go me) I thought I’d share a post on my week’s thoughts/ramblings.

1| Snow drops. I’ve seen them on people’s Instagram feeds but not in real life (this year) yet. I’m jealous. No more social posts till I’ve seen some, OK? I had a bad thigh/ribs injury last week so I walked Polly on easy routes only in our local area in the hope she’d find her puppy pals and tire herself out. Hopefully once I’m back climbing hills we’ll discover a snow drop patch, and all will be well again.

2| Besides the Roller Derby injury (I feel totally fine now by the way, I’m just not used to full body contact yet), I had a crummy cold so all the things I hoped to be awesome at in February (fitness, work and home life) went to pot and I had a little meltdown. We make all these plans then forget that life happens. I must learn to chill out when I physically and mentally can’t do things.

3| In an effort to cheer myself up I wrote a birthday list (like a big kid) and have decided to ask for a new camera lens. I’m so excited! I’ve used the same lens that came with my DSLR for 4 years so I think it’s time to try something new, and invest some love back into my trusty Nikon. I can’t wait to play with this on my birthday weekend, and eat steak and drink Prosecco too. Huzzah.

4| I’m digging wide leg pants. Now there’s a statement. I have a couple of pairs now and love how they look with flat footwear (my shoe style of choice) for work and play. After years of always wearing skinny trousers and jeans (that I don’t think suit me anymore ) I’m on a mission to try different cuts. Although I’ve not lost much weight since I started Roller Derby, I do think my shape has changed (or maybe it’s because I’m getting older). Rather than see that as a problem I’m looking forward to finding clothes that really suit me so I can have less, well fitted items in my wardrobe rather than a mish-mash of unloved pieces.

5| So, it’s Valentine’s this week so in an effort to cheer folk up and myself I’m going to make sure I’m extra positive, smiley and kind to those around me. And if the world annoys me (which it will of course) I shall quietly swear under my breath and just keep on keeping on. P.S isn’t swearing just the bees fc*king knees?!

Here’s to a healthy and productive week!
