Home and Style Finds: Valentine’s Day Edit

Valentine’s Day, as if we could forget it, is around the corner. I personally think it’s a tad cheesy, but I love any excuse to make a fuss whether it’s for your OH, loved ones, yourself or even your pet. In this overwhelming and chaotic age we live in, I think spreading a little love around is no big drama and rather than getting in a pickle over how to celebrate or avoid February 14th, why not just embrace it?

If you are looking to gift someone this year instead of opting for the gimmicky gift, here’s some ideas (and some treats for your home too) to get you started.

From left to right:

1| Your home need some TLC? Cheer up your side/coffee table with this Metallic Lamp (£39.99) from HomeSense. Use the lamp to brighten up a unloved corner of your home and create an inexpensive reading area for your loved one to enjoy some quality me time.

2| I’ve been meaning to read Sarah Knight’s books so Get Your Shit Together would be a worthy treat for myself. A little self care is always a good idea on Valentine’s Day. Anyone read it?

3| In a nod to spring, why not treat yourself or a loved one to some beautiful ballet flats. Buying clothing as a gift can be difficult when none of the high street stores have the same sizing guide, but you can always opt for shoes instead.  Try the British shoe brand Taylor Blake for ballerina flats goodness. More on the blog soon as I style a pair!

4| Have you seen Esprit lately? Their clothing range is spot on and I’m a tad head over heels with the pink Rib Knit Jumper (£39). Team it with distressed jeans, white pumps and grey jacket for a casual weekend vibe.

5| I can’t wait to try Burt’s Bees (£9.99) new lipstick range. I have the Rhubarb Lip Shimmer and swear by it for everyday wear. It’s lasted a long time, has a peppermint flavour and also includes 100% natural ingredients.

6| This Gracie Pouch (£12) from Oliver Bonas is a chic but affordable offering for the stylish girl-about-town.

7| For fans of contemporary design and a little luxury serve breakfast in bed in style using the HAY Tray (£39) via Nest.co.uk. Add blooms, magazines, their favourite breakfast, a vat of coffee, and the promise of a full morning in bed. P.S Take a look at the Nest website for stunning designer furniture too.

8| Treat your hands and your handbag to a tube of Miami Muse Hand Balm (£4) from & Other Stories. Sprinkles of pink pepper falling over cotton candy swept in musks…oh my.

9| If you want to gift a little Valentine’s cheese, then this is my favourite jewellery choice out there, the Heart Bar Necklace (£25) from Fy. Front on, it looks like a delicate tube, but from the side is a heart-shaped tube pendant. Timeless and very romantic.

This is a wonderfully eclectic list. I love the suggestion of ballet flats, as they are an absolute classic and go with so many outfits. If you want to go the extra mile to treat yourself or someone else, you could even invest in some beautiful vintage flats. Vintage shopping is not only a great way to recycle clothes but vintage fashion was made to last. Vintage ballet flats are definitely a fashion staple.
