Home and Style Finds #20

Home and Style Finds

Summer’s not over, my friends. We are only just approaching September after all, where I’ve experienced the sunniest and warmest of days in the 36 years I’ve had on this ‘ere planet of ours.

We have weeks of no-coat wearing weather to enjoy, sunnies to wear and ice cream to eat. But, in the spirit of full disclosure, this Home and Style Finds Post is all about autumn, and my hankering for it. A thousand apologies.

I’m not wishing for summer to end, I love the lighter evenings far too much. But whilst planning our festival trip to End of the Road next week, I realised that the moments I’m looking forward to most (minus the music and awesome food) are evenings spent cosied up in jumpers drinking red wine or hot chocolate and sitting around bonfires putting the world to rights. Oh and the dancing of course. Autumn is a state of mind and I’m ready for it folks. Here’s some autumnal picks for you too…

From left to right:

Of all the ankle boots I’ve owned Lotus Shoes have been the best, so good in fact that I don’t need any more ankle boots as mine are still going strong years later. If you’re on the look out for some fail-safe black boots I’d recommend these at £65.

Sunday mornings would be made better with a reading nook. You know I’m right. An armchair, books piles on either side, and a stool to rest your weary book-reading legs on. I love this Chunky Grey Felted Stool from Cox & Cox. It’s the perfect size for a forgotten corner of your home, and would add texture and warmth too; ideal for the cooler months ahead.

Hats are pretty much a part of my daily outfits now we have a dog. If I’m walking on the moors, even in summer, there’s always need for one. I lost my beret years ago so I’m tempted to add this to my collection from H&M at only £6.99.

As we step into September I start thinking about Christmas, and the lack of pay days before it. So it’s a good time to look out for special pieces in the sale, like this cape from Boden. My mum would look lovely in this.

This inexpensive Shoulder Bag from H&M is a great way to introduce leopard print to your wardrobe. Pair it with a chunky knit for a relaxed and cool weekend outfit.

New magazine alert! I’ve yet to read Breathe magazine but I’ve read good things and will order a copy as soon as I can buy online as there’s no stockists near me. Have you read it?

A good candle (or incense) seems to be the only thing that helps to get rid of the wet dog smell after a particularly long and muddy walk. This candle from & Other Stories is on my wish list when I visit the new store in Manchester.

Need more accessories for that reading corner? Mix up your textures and add an on-trend Velvet Cushion (£6.99) from H&M. That colour is perfection!

When I first saw this Patti Smith Jumper by British knitwear brand Hades, I knew I had to have it. But I was stopped in my tracks at the cost. I get it, it’s made from lambswool and limited edition too but my bank account just can’t justify £160. I’ll get over it, I’m sure…meh.

What’s on your autumnal wish list?
