Lately: Peonies, Walks & Picnics
How are we all, campers? Got a fun packed weekend of adventures planned? Do tell.
I had a little experiment on Instagram this week. I made notes each day of all the good things that had happened and listed them at the end of each day, par a couple of days when I fell asleep earlier than norm.
Looking back I came away with 40 (ish) moments that made me happy. In comparison to the handful of worries I’m facing (family, health, money etc), it was a nice reminder to myself to purposely look for the good, appreciate the simple stuff and let go of things I simply cannot control.
Enjoying a takeaway cappuccino and pastry.
Walking in the woods & discovering new unexplored paths
Buying cereal (Crunchy Nut cornflakes, not the magazine). Guilty pleasure alert.
Reading Manage Your Day to Day – a great read if you’re looking for practical tips to help you be smart with your time and organised at work.
 Watching Moneyball.
Playing mind training games on Peak (I’m getting a bit obsessed with this!)
Eating chocolate birthday cake (my lovely sister-in-law’s)
Using my new umbrella (yellow and stripes for the win!)
Birthday gift research for my sister, niece and nephew
 Starting a new notebook
Listening to Father John Misty on my iPod
 Surviving Roller Derby training
 Writing my to do list
Coming home to Polly’s welcome – there’s nothing quite like it.
Eating a well deserved bar of chocolate after training (it tasted SO good). I exercise so I can eat ALL the chocolate.
 The smell of cut grass
Coming home to a tidy house – thank you OH.
Appreciating the simplicity of the Craspedia flower amongst my peony bouquet from Bloom and Wild
Getting a lie-in (7am is good for Polly!)
Listening to Courtney Barnett on my iPod
 Bumping into my friend
Learning the minefield that is called Photoshop…I’m getting there.
Listening to My Sharona in the office
OH has gone 6 days without smoking cigarettes. So proud!
News that a friend has a baby on the way
 Getting my pins out
 Watching Game of Thrones
Seeing a hare skip through the woods (luckily Polly didn’t notice!)
 Hearing The Strokes new single
Walking out into the morning dew
Ticking a lot of things (not all) off my to do list
The prospect of a 4 day weekend
Roller Derby training (Part two) with lovely skater folk. They’re all awesome
 Getting a wedding invitation
Seeing my friend Katy enjoying her holiday (she deserves it!)
 Planning family get togethers
 Family walking adventures to Oxenhope
 Pancakes for breakfast
Friday afternoon drinks in the pub after a long walk
 Enjoying a picnic (including Prosecco!)
Catch me over on Instagram and share your positive moments too (don’t forget the hashtag #sharethepositive).
