Now onto better and happier times! Hasn’t the weather been ruddy brilliant this week? I might sound like a 90-year-old but it’s been a tonic and I’m checking my weather app daily in hope for a decent weekend too. Vitamin D is my new best friend.

I’m trying to keep myself busy during the week, ensuring any moment I’m not working, I’m blogging, walking Polly, cleaning the house, training for roller derby or baking. Anything to detach myself slightly from our current situation. I’ve even wrote a list of things to do when I’m down that I know will cheer me up.

1. Walk Polly. On days when I can’t be bothered I walk Polly further than normal as it’s those days when I need to walk the most. It’s the best way to help clear my head, especially when the sun shines. I can’t wait for a proper walk (with picnic) with the OH at the weekend.

2. Secondhand shopping. I’ll never tire of it as I love knowing some object or piece of clothing gets a new lease of life. I bought a gorgeous scarf last week found pottering around local charity shops but it’s good to know, on lazy days, that you can buy vintage clothing online too from places like Ebay, Rokit Vintage and Oxfam.

3. Read in the evening. Books, magazines, blog posts; I don’t do this enough but when I do I’m instantly more relaxed. I’m thinking this Friday night is going to be a music, sherry and a reading night. Oh and I’ve got a stack of Simple Things magazines that I’m going to give to my mum – she’s needs some kind of inspiration and in my experience you get that from, you guessed it, the simple things in life.

4. Watch films. Specifically old favourites like Lost Boys, Withnail and I, any Hitchcock film or the Lord of Rings trilogy!

5. Home improvements.  As I spend a lot of time working from home I’m even more keen to improve it bit by bit, so we have a nice sanctuary to live in, especially on days when life is being annoying. We’re going to paint the spare bedroom next, and use up the rest of the black paint from the office.

6. Blogging and Photography. Writing a lifestyle blog changed my life. It gave me focus when I didn’t have it and has been instrumental in me leading a more creative life, and a happier one.

Then there’s the opportunities. I’ve worked hard over the years in developing Mathilde heart Manech and there’s not one opportunity that I’m not grateful for. Blogging is exciting stuff and I love being a part of this community. Long may it continue.

P.S I’m currently trialing out Vita Coco Coconut Oil, mainly on my skin and hair, but I’ve read it has a whole heap of uses so I’ll keep ya posted!

7. Appreciate every silly moment with Polly. She makes me laugh every single day. If you are thinking about getting a dog, don’t delay. Dogs make everything better.

8. Chocolate. I eat relatively well and exercise more than I ever have so I will continue to eat chocolate and have sugar in my tea. So there.
