Just Pinned: Winter Inspiration

When the rain falls and all is bleak outside I turn to Pinterest in search of inspiration; it’s far more interesting than the rubbish that’s on television nowadays, and although rather addictive, I do find I learn lots from a good pinning session whether it’s new recipes, interiors and outfit ideas or simply perusing beautiful photographs that provide escapism from grey days spent indoors.

Having a dog has definitely made me appreciate the everyday even more than I used to, since all they do is eat, sleep and play (and enjoy those things so much!), so I’m taking much more comfort in the simplest of pleasures like filling the hearth with wood for an evening fire, eating hearty food and enjoying a great film or book with good company.

Rain can be a big bore (and a worry in Hebden Bridge if we have too much of it) but overall winter makes me happy. My body (and brain) begin to wind down as if they know the year is coming to an end, and suddenly all I want to do is nest, reflect and look forward. So here’s my latest Pinterest board, dedicated to the winter months in all their majesty; I’ve now got an urge to serve popcorn in snowflake printed paper bags, explore snowy landscapes and shop for ladies scarves!

Squeal! I love the matte grey nails and the mustard yellow chunky knit above. And the snowscape of Whitby? Oh my. I always imagine staying close to home when it snows but I think I’ve missed out and this winter I need to be brave and explore my favourite UK places in the snow. Doesn’t Whitby look magical here?

What’s been inspiring you lately? Give me a shout if I’m not following you on Pinterest!
