Home Interiors

At Home: Portfolio by Premdor

We haven’t decorated the open plan living/dining room since we moved house last year (I still can’t believe we’ve been here a year!). There are updates to be made for sure but overall it’s a lovely room and luckily the previous owners had good taste in colour and style.

One day, when we decide to change the kitchen (and we stop dipping into our savings), the lounge will have to follow suit, so I’m always on the look out for home decor ideas to see if I will still like them, months and years down the line. I want a room that will look classic and cosy but something that we can update easily over the years, by making small affordable changes to our lighting and textiles.PortfolioImage sources

To help me on my quest to create a contemporary but cosy room, Premdor the door manufacturer, set me a challenge to create a dream space using one of their new designs from the Portfolio collection as inspiration. After choosing my favourite door, the Light Grey Two Stile from the contemporary range, I then looked to Pinterest for inspiration.

Grey is versatile and can look dramatic paired with deep blues and blacks but instead I was drawn to more neutral and feminine tones of peach, pink and copper tones.

The Portfolio Collection of luxury veneer doors have been inspired by the latest design trends, so I think they would pair perfectly with metallic accessories like the copper lighting and exposed pipes above; ideal for the winter months to add warmth and glamour to a space.

I also love how the colour grey pairs perfectly with natural elements including exposed wooden beams, furniture and plants to create a light, fresh and warm space that would suit the summer months too.

Are you decorating any time soon?
