Lately: Camping, Polly and Paris

Rounders at St Ives

I just did a double take when checking today’s date! I have absolutely no idea where these days are going. When there are lots of things happening all at the same, days seem to slip away; and what with work, roller skating, garden makeovers, puppy prep, Paris planning and camping with my dear university friends, August is flying by.

Last weekend we ventured to St Ives for our annual university meet-up. Camping, BBQ’s, games, singing songs; what’s not to love? This year we welcomed three new baby-shaped additions plus two members of the gang are pregnant too which made the sunny gathering extra special. I love this bunch of folk.

If you have a group of friends you don’t see too often I recommend getting together for a camping adventure while summer is still here; it’s cheap, fun and great for the kids too. I just wish we all lived closer!

Polly

In only 4 days we’ll be picking up Polly! I’m not going to lie, I’m starting to feel really nervous about it. Of course I’m excited and can’t wait for her to come home, but I know it is going to be challenging and a life changing experience. I’m a pretty adaptable person and can cope well with new things but I am also a fierce worry pot. What if I lose her?! What if she annoys the neighbours? What if she doesn’t like us? What if we’re rubbish at training her? Time will tell and we shall see. Look out for puppy spamming on Instagram from Saturday!

roller skates

Last week saw me trying something new; roller derby training! The first three weeks is learning basic roller skating skills including how to go forward, stop and fall safely; followed by watching a roler derby bout (and wondering how the hell the girls do it?!). It was brilliant! I ached for days after, and I’ve got a long way to go, but getting my skates on was the highlight of my week! Intake starts in September. I’ll keep you posted.

Paris

I haven’t had a chance to properly think or plan my trip to Paris with my buddy Katy next month but it’s nearly here and I can’t wait! Most of the trip will be focused on Maison & Objet, as Katy (soon-to-be shopkeeper!) and I scour the fair for interior inspiration. I’m also looking forward to filling my memory card with photographs of Paris; taking picnics on the banks of the Seine, drinking coffee in Le Marais, and exploring our temporary home, SoPi. Paris makes me happy. Any recommendations from a recent trip?

Oh and  I can’t wait to see the Floating Flower Garden Installation by TeamLab. I mean, look at it?!

What have you been up to lately?

Oh look at Polly. What a cutie! Our Hugo ( black lab) is one years old now. How time flies! Hugo luckily was great to house train etc and he slept in his crate for about 8 months. He saw it as his special safe place. Talking of camping, we take Hugo lots now. He loves it! Labradors can be very food orientated and need plenty of exersize , but I’m sure you already know that.Good Luck! ps When i went to Paris last year, the Marais was one of my favourite parts. The museum of hunting and nature is interesting ( and bizarre!) and there is a cat cafe in the district now too.

Ooh that museum sounds great! Yes, our Polly is going to get lots of walks around here. I can’t wait till she’s had all her injections and we can start exploring. Raincoats and wellies at the ready! x
