Wardrobe Details: Wedding Guest Outfit

It doesn’t feel like summer without a good wedding to celebrate and last week the OH’s lovely sister got married. Hurrah for a loved-up shindig!

We have a couple of weddings this year but I was determined to look to my wardrobe for inspiration to save on costs. As per usual all my insecurities came out to play and I felt frumpy in every occasion-style outfit I owned. Either they felt too short, the sleeves exposed too much of my top arms (wah!) or the neckline just wasn’t right.  So I decided to bite the bullet, check the bank balance, and go on a shopping trip with only £50 in my back pocket. After 15 minutes (my sister can testify to this) I had bought my perfect outfit, and I’ve already worn it since. Score!

After trying on around 10 pieces of clothing, including a handful of fit and flare dresses, I chose a black jumpsuit, floral kimono and a complimentary clutch bag; all from New Look. Bingo! There were two dresses that I really loved but truthfully I knew I wouldn’t get as much wear out of them, and these days I prefer fitted trousers to anything else. The kimono was a no-brainer, featuring a mix of colours that will work with lots of outfits in my wardrobe; I’ve already worn it since with jeans and had lots of compliments too. Also the peach tones fit perfectly with my new shoes from Babycham Footwear, and I didn’t have to take them off once, not even for dancing!

I’ll be wearing the same outfit in October for the next wedding, but in the meantime you’ll find me in my kimono and jumpsuit at regular intervals. Jumpsuits for the win!
