Lately: Simply Be Maxi Guide, Australia and Roller Skating

Hello all! Happy Tuesday, or whichever day of the week you might read this blog post. Today is simply a catch up  of all the bits and bobs that have happened since our return from Glastonbury. By the way, the next festival post is live on the blog later today, so look out for that!

While I was away I was featured on two lovely sites. Firstly, Joanna from Adventures and Tea Parties interviewed me for her monthly blog feature, so please do stop by and say hello.  I was also asked by my friends at Simply Be to be the face of Yorkshire for the Simply Be summer campaign. Being a proud Yorkshire lass I was super chuffed to take part and share a little of Hebden Bridge too. Check out the Maxi Summer Guide below (it may take a mo to load!).

I had a bad case of post Glastonbury blues last week and a mix of anxiety that rears its ugly head once in a while. Nothing but time could heal that but thankfully it’s passed now and the end of the week ended on a high at the cinema; isn’t it the best when you get great feedback, encouragement and a little respect at work? I bought myself ice cream (of the mint chocolate chip variety) to celebrate. P.S Our front door sometimes produces rainbow reflections onto our carpet. I can’t help but capture them!

The OH had an urge to paint during our holidays. I, however, had an urge to sit on the sofa and eat, read and watch movies. So I left him to it and he kindly revamped my old bookcase with some paint we had leftover from our bedroom makeover. I love simple DIY projects that make a difference.

Summer produce is the best. Just as a pint of cold beer and hearty pub grub tastes amazing after a long countryside walk. As does fresh fruit on a hot summer’s day. Watermelon is next on the menu when the temperature goes above 25 degrees again!

I’m starting roller derby training sessions next month! I have a feeling I’ll be useless but I know for a fact I’m going to love every single minute. I’ll keep you posted…on all my injuries

We’ve watched some great films lately at the cinema and at home but Sunday evening’s film (on our projector) was the best, and a classic. Repulsion, starring the brilliant Catherine Deneuve is my kind of horror movie; smart, subtle and brilliantly creepy. Add to your list!

I’d say we listen to our fair share of music but I forgot how therapeutic and calming it is to listen to favourite albums first thing in the morning. Especially when it’s the likes of Joanna Newsom, Vashti Bunyan and Bill Callahan; perfect for freelance days when working from home.

Australia

We’re going back to Australia next year! Long time readers will know we have family out there so it was only a matter of time before we returned. I have excited butterflies in my stomach knowing another adventure awaits. Only eight months to go! P.S It was definitely this news that helped to break my Glastonbury blues.

Glastonbury is great but it is an expensive few days (if you’re partial to gin and fresh-baked doughnuts). So since our return I’ve been taking advantage of all the free things in life; books, walks and photography. I’ve realised I’m actually a fast reader (with the help of a great book) when I make time to read.

What’s better than walking, taking photographs and good company? More on this soon!

What have you been up to lately, ladies and gentlemen?
