Outfit: Wallis Style Adviser

This casual outfit was chosen for me by Wallis Style Adviser, a handy on site app that expertly assesses your colour and style preferences, before putting together a selection of targeted items, aimed at your tastes and personality.

The questionnaire asks simple questions you’d expect (colouring and shape etc) but also asks about your lifestyle too, to help put together a more informed and accurate selection of recommended outfits.

Once I finished the questionnaire (which takes around 5-10 minutes) my style profile was decided;

Womanly with curves galore in all the right places. Your key to dressing is to keep your top and bottom in balance whilst accentuating your waist. Dresses and tops that have an element of fit at the waist are your best friends as well as bottoms that enhance your wiggle and streamline your silhouette. Loose, baggy clothes and bold patterns tend to pile on the pounds and should be avoided. Wear lower necklines to complement your fuller bust.

This was followed by a selection of clothing recommended for me; slim leg trousers, bright colours (blue and red), fit and flare dresses and tops with lower neck lines. I’d say about 60% of the styles were what I would usually wear and the rest I marked as ‘dislike’, which then updates my preferences for future styles that come in.

The most useful part of the site is the What Size Do You Usually Wear? section which asks what sizes you usually choose, and the shops you buy from. I chose size 14  (Gap, Zara and New Look) and it then recommended I try a size 16 in Wallis sizes. I’m not bothered about the size, just whether it fits, so I was really happy when the clothes arrived that they were spot on!

Cheating a little, I went back to the main site to see if they’d missed any nice dresses for me. Just in case. This polka dot beauty was there and it automatically recommended I try it in a size 16. I’m meant to avoid busy patterns, but teamed with a short denim jacket it looks just lovely (I’ll share it on the blog soon). Plus, it is a fit and flare style so that ticks one of the boxes. I’m sure the Style Adviser would approve. Ahem.

Overall the app is really useful as a guide of what clothing to avoid etc and I love that it’s something I can use again and again when buying from Wallis in the future. I generally wear clothes that make me happy, that are comfortable and reflect my lifestyle and personality and I think the app picked up on that perfectly. I love the bright coral jumper (closer to red) and the red shopper for adding pops of colour to my daily outfits and the cropped trousers fit perfectly, just in time for bare ankle weather!
