At Home: Spare Bedroom Refresh
Happy Friday! Cor blimey, I’m ready for another weekend. Are you? I’m a tad excited today as not only does my working week finish at 12pm (hurrah!) but I’m off for a spa afternoon with my sister, followed by a trip to the garden centre and then back to ours for a fun-filled sleepover! Not sure about the rest of the weekend yet but I think it will consist of blogging, crafting (for a blog post I’m doing soon), biscotti baking and garden sorting/organising. But we shall see, our weekends always tend to change as soon as we receive a text from friends to come to the pub. Ah, the pub.
Anyway, I digress. I mentioned in January I would be showing more of our house on the blog, so here we are today taking a peek at our spare bedroom. It’s been 6 months since we moved into our pad, can you believe it? I still pinch myself every single day that this place is ours, and will be forever grateful for this roof over my head.
We’ve been decorating and organising our rooms over the past month in preparation for spring and it finally feels like we know what works and what doesn’t, what to keep and what to recycle. There’s still so much to be done; storage to be fitted, lighting to be rewired, and walls to be painted but it’s generally all cosmetic until we can afford to do anything else.
Today I’m sharing our spare bedroom (ready for my sister tonight!) which, to be honest, is the easiest of rooms to organise as it doesn’t have much clutter in. However, it did need freshening up before it turned into a laundry dumping room. So, Furniture Choice set me a little challenge; to revamp a bedroom with a £75 budget in time for spring. I choose to spend my pennies at Habitat, my favourite interior design shop, and picked four items to refresh the room. Luckily they had a sale on too so I managed to get more goodies for my budget. I always look for voucher codes, they are my friends.

My overall aim was to make it a relaxing and cosy room for when people come to stay. I chose the bamboo lantern and plant to complement the green wall and chest of drawers (natural materials and plants are great for adding warmth to a room). I then picked out some plain white bedding from our stash and paired it with our stem print Orla Kiely pillows for a cheaper alternative than buying the whole set. Finally, I chose a white and wooden table lamp and leaf-print ceiling lampshade to match the plant pot, dressing table and bed linen. All in all I think it’s now a functional and relaxing spare room…I’d quite like to take a snooze right now!
Are you planning any spring room makeovers?
P.S Tote of the week coming tomorrow!

Love this look – and love the idea of using pillowcases and other bedding. That works well with an idea I have had brewing for a while. Thanks for the inspirations!
