Hebden Bridge

Weekend: Heptonstall, Peppa Pig and Photoshop

Calder Valley

Happy Monday campers! Can you believe we have one week left of February before we head into the month of March, aka the wonderous month when the clocks go forward. I certainly don’t wish my days away but I am enjoying seeing signs of spring and am looking forward to seeing the valley turn into a sea of green once more. Cor blimey, it was cold this weekend!

Our weekend was spent indoors and out. We ventured up to Heptonstall on Saturday, a small village above Hebden Bridge (where Sylvia Plath is buried), for a spot of cobble-pottering, ale drinking and photography. We were tempted to go for a long walk from the town (look at the views) but it was so cold that The Cross Inn pub tempted us back indoors with their log fire and Seabrook crisps. I went on a gorgeous long walk with a friend during the week anyway (more on that later in the week) so I felt I deserved some quality pub action this time.

On Sunday we took the nephew to the cinema for the very first time to watch Peppa Pig: The Golden Boots! It was so much fun watching his face light up (and stuff his face full of popcorn). Can you imagine going to the cinema for the first time? My first cinema experience was E.T. and apparently I was quiet and still throughout the whole film…movie magic at its best! I can’t remember watching E.T. but I do remember other screenings my parents took me to for my birthdays. I was always given a box of Maltesers all to myself too. Good times.

Other weekend delights included scouring Pinterest for bedroom decor ideas (I’m doing a makeover this week), reading up on Photoshop (we have it at last!) and making notes to create my own free printable papercraft DIY’s for the blog. I’ve had some training for Photoshop already but I definitely need to dedicate some time to do this properly. Learning makes me happy.

The rest of the weekend was spent with the boys (OH and his brother) watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, drinking gin (and eating southern fried chicken – ha!). Impromptu nights like this are good for the soul.

Finally, we’ve both booked off some annual leave next week for my birthday (grand old age of 35!). We’re having a party of sorts on Saturday but we need to make plans for Monday; I’m thinking more quiet pottering somewhere nice. With cake and cocktails of course.

How was your weekend?
