Lately: Travels, Home & Roller Skating

Hyacinths

Hello there fine young things, how are we all today? I’m well, focusing on the happy and positive stuff while life is busy doing its thing. On that note, please keep your fingers and toes crossed for my cheery ol’ dad, will you? He’s not having the best time right now but never complains, moans or asks for anything. He’s an inspiration really. Thank heavens for people like that, right?

Anyhoo! Here’s all the fantastic things I’ve been enjoying and feeling very grateful for lately…

sundays

Quiet weekend mornings spent relaxing with blankets and magazines. I’ve kept my new year’s promise to not work (freelance) as much at the weekends. Now all my hours are dedicated to weekdays (split between the cinema and writing from home) so I can enjoy time with the OH, friends and family; including me time too.

Mytholmroyd

This was taken a week or so ago on our travels to Scarborough and York. I love travelling by train (when you’re going somewhere nice!), the perfect chance to daydream, listen to music and read.

Countryside

A trip to Ox Pasture Hall near Scarborough was a much-needed tonic. More on that on the blog tomorrow!

york minster

Followed by a sunny Sunday spent in lovely York. I love this city so much. I could walk around those city walls forever!

Back in Hebden Bridge, sporting my new Joules jacket that the OH bought me as an early birthday gift. I’m so pleased I went for the cheery yellow.

belle and sebastian

Ah Belle and Sebastian! We have tickets to see them in Manchester soon so I’m listening to all of their albums again including the latest, Girls in Peacetime Want To Dance. Have you heard any of it yet? It’s flipping fantastic.

roller skating 2015

I don’t think I’ve smiled this much for months. Roller skating is the best medicine when serious stuff is getting you down. I decided to take it up for many reasons but mainly to have fun and be challenged. My thighs and legs are still hurting so I presume it’s doing me some good!

roller skating

My roller skating buddy, Jo, took a few shots to prove I can stay on my feet. SO. MUCH. FUN.

home office

Working in the office amidst colourful textiles. Pink makes me happy.

Other great things; Nora Ephron, long lazy lunches with friends, sitting in front of the fire with the OH and a bottle of sherry, arranging birthday parties and a spa day with my sister, finding charity shop bargains, the scent of hyacinths in the bathroom, watching the Baftas (and being so pleased for Boyhood) and feeling the winter sunshine on my face.

What have you been up to lately?

What a lovely time you’ve been having, getting out and about. Your coat is such a jolly colour- love it! Roller skating- I so want to do that too. I’ve got some skates but been a bit apprehensive about getting out and doing it. Think I will give it a go now though! X

I love this post. It’s like a little reminder to appreciate and enjoy all of the little things that make you happy, when other things might not be so good. Thanks for sharing x
