Lately: Candy, January and eBay bargains

Howdy all, just a quick post before the weekend descends *runs around the room ecstatically*. How are we all? Surviving January? The good news is we’ve made it half way, things can only get better right? But crikey were the first two weeks disappointing!

The first week back to work I came down with gastroenteritis and I spent the second week recovering and catching up on freelance work. Not a great start! I’m up to date now though and feeling more like myself (I’m hungry again!) and I’m hoping January will sort it self out (we’ve had words). I might even have a tipple or two tonight…

It hasn’t been all bad mind you, we’ve had the pleasure of looking after Candy again for the past three weeks and she’s made us so very happy. She’s the kindest, sweetest dog I’ve ever met, great for curing seasonal blues and warming chilly feet!

Hmm what else have I been up to? I’ve had some MEGA luck buying second-hand furniture on eBay and found great sellers who went the extra mile to deliver to us too. I’ll do a proper tour of the house soon, but we now have a 1970s sideboard for the office, a high back arm chair (perfect for book reading!) and a stunning vintage dressing table for the bedroom. I’m looking forward to a good house pottering and organising session tomorrow!

Other things that have put a big smile on my face lately: reading Little White Lies magazine (great film mag), planning a trip to the East Coast at the end of the month, writing gig dates in my diary (Jimi Goodwin next weekend!), wearing my dungarees, watching episodes of Friends on US Netflix, having lots of eBay luck (see above), watching the Oscar nominees come through (love my job!), eating leftover Christmas cake, popping blog event dates in my diary, watching the To Be Takei documentary (love that guy), caring for our new plants (please stay alive!), planning birthday fun, and listening to the rain tap-tapping on the bedroom skylight.

What have you been up to lately?

Ooh I’ve never heard of that magazine (I normally just buy Empire…), I’ll need to keep an eye out for it. That is such a cute dog, I can see why you like babysitting! 🙂

Awww no… hope you’re feeling better now. Maybe you’re getting all your illnesses over and done with now so you can enjoy the rest of the year?

Also, how adorable is that dog?!

And finally, yet for the house tour. I cannot WAIT to see it. I’m sure it’s awesome. We’ll have to pop by for a cuppa when we do our UK roadtrip in the summer.
