At Home: Samsung WW9000 Ecobubble Washing Machine

Ever since we moved into our new home we feel we’ve finally entered the 21st century. We made the best of our old place and what we could afford but all of our white goods were second-hand and were falling to pieces towards the end. A dishwasher was some magical being that we dreamt of owning one day and our washing machine made lots of noises to notify us something was very wrong.

To celebrate moving into our new home, Samsung offered me the opportunity to review a washing machine. I couldn’t wait to enjoy an appliance that would not only work (and make normal noises) but save me time and make my life easier too. Just nice smelling clothes and little fuss was all I asked for.

Then the space-age marvel of minimalism, the Samsung WW9000 Ecobubble Touchscreen Washing Machine landed on our doorstop. Besides looking like something from space, this streamlined beauty also promised a heap of features to make washing clothes easy too.

We had a few problems installing the machine, largely due to it not fitting in the new kitchen. So we’ve had a base built for it in our cellar (one day a super utility room!) and it now sits happily with our tumble dryer, ready to take on their duties.

So, what are its features? The machine can be operated by your smart phone. Whaaat? However, unless someone actually collects clothes and loads the washing machine for me, this feature wasn’t what I was excited about, so I haven’t tried it yet.

What I am really impressed with is the touchscreen display and auto optimal wash which detects the wash load and level of soiling of your clothes. Prior to loading your machine, you can fill your detergent to the max level and not need to do that again for at least 3-4 weeks. So, it is basically fool-proof: add clothes, close the door then press start. Another awesome appliance in our lives that saves us time and hassle. Oh and it also plays a little Samsung ditty at the end of the cycle to let you know it’s finished. This makes me happy.

I’ve only used the automatic function so far as we’ve been too busy playing house to try all the features, so I’ll be sharing another post soon to see how I get on with the smart control and other functions.
