Made! How To Make a Boutonniere for Weddings

wedding accessories

Can you remember before Christmas when I was set a challenge by Country Baskets to create a Christmas themed decoration? Well the crafty challenge has been set again but this time for a Spring/Summer wedding themed decoration. I do like a challenge, especially when it takes my mind off grown up house buying stuff!

I, along with 20 other bloggers, were sent a bouquet of faux flowers, lace ribbon, a roll of purple organza, wired crystals, diamantes on a long strand, a roll of heart ribbon and wedding place cards and were given free rein to make a wedding accessory of our choice.

I choose to make a boutonniere for wedding guests. I have lots of lovely dresses that would otherwise look a little plain for a wedding, and I’m not really a fascinator type of gal. So instead, I decided to go with something very simple that you could change dependent on the colour of your outfit. Obviously you could wear this with a suit but I like it simply pinned to a dress.

How to make a boutonniere for weddings:

I got my scissors out and snipped away three pieces of the foliage and used one single rose. I then tied them together with some of the wired crystals to secure in place. I gathered the organza and made it into one long strip so I could tie it in place to make a little ‘skirt’ at the bottom of the stem and above the rose too.

And there you have it, a super simple boutonniere! As the rose and foliage is already secured with wire, just tying the organza in place means you can change the colour of the fabric used and wear at multiple weddings. Hurrah!

Keep checking back at the Country Baskets blog for the other wedding accessory entries!

Disclosure: I was sent the craft materials free of charge to take part in the wedding accessory challenge.
