Diary Dates: 10 Awesome Things To Do In June

I refuse to waffle on about how quickly these months of ours are passing by (HOW QUICK?!) instead I’m looking forward to the month of June, and ignoring the fact that we didn’t get Glastonbury Festival tickets this year (holds fingers in ears and yells ‘la la la la la’ repeatedly).

Most of my family and friends were born in June so pretty much all of my spare time will be filled with celebrations this month (excuse for balloons!) but I am hoping to go along to a couple of events close to me, and there are so many! Not wanting to leave the rest of the UK out though, I’ve selected 10 awesome things to do in June. It’s looking bright, my friends – take note sunshine!

The Complete Guide To Everything Tour
June 3-7, Nationwide
One of our favourite podcast shows is touring the UK and landing in Manchester next week. Hosted by Tim Daniels and Tom Reynolds of Brooklyn, New York, the show is described as the next Wikipedia in podcast form. You guessed it, it’s awesome.

Ealing Pop Up Fair

Expect a super day of fashion and crafts, music and cake; including a 1940s style tea room, a five piece Doo-Wop girl group, vintage makeovers, retro bikes and vintage inspired dresses!

English National Opera
Throughout June, London
The Cosi Fan Tutte eno production at the English National Opera. Oh my, I’ve always wanted to go to the Opera and this has been described as Mozart’s comedic gem and worth seeing for the orchestral playing alone. Plus, if you’re going to do one thing next month it should be something you’ve never done before. Excuse for a new frock?

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival
27 June – 5 July
An annual celebration of the town’s creativity and landscape; presenting a calendar of theatre, dance, visual arts, music, literature and comedy. Highlights include Simon Amstell, Leisure Society, Hebden Shorts and Festival In The Park (and so much more). More info here.

National Theatre Live
Throughout the month, Nationwide
Whoever thought of this idea deserves a big round of applause. That’s right, you can now watch the best of British theatre broadcasted live to cinemas across the UK. Our local cinema participates with this and it’s an absolutely brilliant way to access the very best productions from the London stage, at a snippet of the price. Check out your local cinema to see if they participate in live broadcasts.

World Cup
June 12 to July 13
Yup it’s World Cup time! I actually look forward to International or European football tournaments as its means I can sit in beer gardens and openly vent my rage – it’s therapeutic. Whether you like football or not, here’s your official head’s up to bagsy the TV remote!

The Contemporary Craft Festival
6-8 June, Devon
Fill your contemporary craft boots at this year’s Contemporary Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey, Devon. Showcasing the very best in British craft and including talks, workshops and demonstrations.

Ooo wish I could go to the pop up fair, but it’s my daughter’s birthday that weekend. The Lunar festival is very local to me, wonder if I could make it a birthday surprise? I know they have loads of stuff on for children.
