Bake Cookies//Saturday mornings are my favourite time to bake. The house quickly fills with the scent of sweet cake or biscuits and it’s comforting knowing that the cake tin is full in case an unexpected guest pops by.

Read (then nap) // When the rain pours outside, a novel, play or magazine is another way to escape from grey days. I picked this play up from Barter Books, a beautiful secondhand book shop in Alnwick. I love reading plays; I’m a dialogue fiend.

uk lifestyle blogPamper yourself // Ah for pamper days. These are quite rare nowadays as I tend to find myself at the laptop and scribbling notes rather than spending time prettifying my body, hair and face. Nevertheless, when I do, I enjoy it. Rainy days cause for painted nails, a freshly chopped fringe, and rehydrating my skin. I’m using Exuviance Essential Daily Defense Cream c/o The Cosmetic Practice whilst the weather decides what it’s up to. It’s a perfect Winter moisturiser for my dry skin and has a refreshing scent that I’d like to bottle! Oh and it has cleared up my slightly red chin which I tend to get at this time of year. Fiddle-dee-dee.

Drink tea and listen to the radio (6 Music and 4 Extra) // A rainy afternoon spent listening to the radio with a pot of tea is my idea of bliss. No talking, just listening, as you go about your day. I’m looking forward to catching up on the Screen 6 Special with the Coen Brothers that aired last Sunday. I love their soundtracks!

films to watch 2014Watch films // If you’re going to watch any films this weekend try the Scottish drama, The Angels’ Share, What Maisie Knew for heartbreaking performances and Captain Phillips for the best thriller I’ve seen in years.

What do you like to do on a rainy day when you’ve nowhere to go?
