Festive 5: This Girl Is…

This Girl Is...

On the blog this week I’ve lined up some fantastic bloggers and friends to take part in my Festive 5 series. They’ll be asked five questions all about the season – mainly because I’m nosey like that and Christmas makes me happy! Today Lisa-Marie of This Girl Is… has popped over for a chat.

1. Where will you be spending Christmas this year?

I’ll be spending Christmas day with my husband in our flat. We’ll having stockings and presents and Christmas jimjams. For the first time in our seven year relationship, we’ll be cooking our own Christmas dinner, and in the evening we’ll go to my SIL and BIL’s house for supper and to give our wee nephew his present. Once home, we’ll finish the day with a few festive drinks and some telly.

2. What are your favourite Christmas memories?

Christmas is my favourite time of year, so I have lots of good memories. My very best childhood ones are of watching The Snowman in my new jimjams, with my sister, huddled under a blanket on Christmas Eve. My favourite as a grown up is opening a small, wrapped box on Christmas morning five years ago, and unwrapping it to find an engagement ring. I think it’ll take something spectacular to top that memory.

3. What are your must see films?

Well first, there’s The Snowman, to be watched on Christmas Eve, while wearing new jimjams. I’m a big fan of Nora Ephron, so in the run up I like to watch Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and You’ve Got Mail. I love that most of her work has a Christmassy element.
Then, there are the classics – A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th St, Little Women, It’s A Wonderful Life. I love them all!

4. What’s the best Christmas gift you ever received?

Well, not including my engagement ring, I think it’s a tie between the three-story Victorian doll’s house I got when I was nine – it had shutters and ivy and it was yellow! – and my sewing machine from Dave. We were students when we got together, so a decent sewing machine was a pretty extravagant gift!

5. What are you looking forward to most this Christmas?

I’m looking forward to spending time with the husband – we’ve only seen each other at weekends for the last few months, and he moves home full-time just before Christmas. I’m also looking forward to starting our own traditions, just the two of us. I can’t wait to take presents out from under our own tree on Christmas morning. Our nephew is two this year and really expressive, so giving him his present and seeing him open it is going to be amazing.
