Made: DIY Origami Garlands, Christmas Wreath and Cards

So I might have mentioned that Mathilde heart Manech was featured in Company Magazine this month. I might also have alluded to this on Twitter and Facebook too so excuse me for repeating old news!  Oh well, I’m so chuffed for my little blog – eep!

I was asked to make an origami star garland  for them to feature in their Christmas issue, after they saw the Christmas cards I made last year. So I thought I’d show you three simple ideas on how to decorate your home this season with handmade loveliness simply by creasing some paper! By the way, the origami star instructions will be live on their website soon. Keep those eyes peeled!

Everything I used to make the garlands, wreath and cards I already owned – the best kind of crafting! First up, instead of using old magazine pages, like I did for Company Magazine, I chose old music sheets and paper from books that I’ve picked up in charity shops over the years. It adds a vintage touch to your Christmas, which I’ll never grow weary of.

To make the cards simply glue the stars directly onto plain card stock – perhaps add a touch of silver glitter for a bit of Christmas sparkle? Or, using an embroidery hoop (or wreath ring) stick the stars (using strong glue) onto the hoop very carefully to make an alternative Christmas Wreath.  I can’t wait to hang this on our inside door – I might make another two and they can have a party. Lastly, you can make an easy-peasy origami garland by stringing the stars together with thread (gold would be lovely!) – I’m itching to get these on my tree.

Have you started any Christmas crafting for your home?
