A Christmas tradition and a fascinating carrot.

Every Christmas I buy a new bauble for the Christmas tree. A tradition if you like. There’s something special about taking time out of the Christmas madness to concentrate on the little things that make you smile. For me that’s adorning a tree with something new each year. I like to wander from shop to shop until I find ‘the one’ then go celebrate with a cup of tea and a mince pie. Yes, I do.

If I lived in London or Edinburgh I’d be heading to Anthropologie this year for my bauble pleasure. When their catalogue graced my door mat yesterday, fancy-prancy baubles were gazing at me in all their wonderment. Alas, I wouldn’t buy them online as this tradition is all about the full shopping experience, you only get from shopping face-to-face. For those of you lucky enough to live near Anthropologie, I’d suggest you start a bauble tradition too…take a peep at these unique and quirky designs!

Harvest Frost Carrot Ornament

I especially love the carrot as it reminds me of a line from one of my favourite films Withnail & I – ‘I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium’. Ah Monty…genius.

Do you have any Christmas decorating traditions?

These are so wonderful! It’s a struggle for me to avoid Anthropologie these days (I work a few minutes away from the Regent St shop) – but there you have it, the perfect excuse for me to go in and start a new Christmas tradition!
    Thanks for sharing

Ahhh Lisa I’m so with you! In fact I have bought not one but two this year already. I wanted to get one to mark Florence’s first proper Christmas last year but moving house just before meant everything went out the window. No matter, now I have two new ones this year. I’ll try to remember to give them an airing on the blog.

These are lovely (and I am slowly building a collection of baubles and trinkets for the tree, the joy is finding something beautiful and unexpected and in feeling excited about buying it. And it means over time a beautiful collection can be built. So glad I am not alone in this tradition!
