Food Rut
I love food and I love to cook. I do lack inspiration though and am always tinkering on the internet searching for recipes. I’m not very good at thinking them up you see, I like to leave that to the experts. Recently I’ve found us eating similar things week in week out and I would like a change, thank you very much.
When I visit friends I’m always inspired by what is put in front of me – food that i’ve simply forgotten. You can’t beat home cooked grub, (especially when cooked by someone else) and I like the idea of looking closer to home for recipes rather than from the usual celebrity chefs. So i’ve had an idea (ping!)…
Mathilde ♥ Manech needs you! Friends, fellow bloggers (whatislaate I’m counting on you!), and other lovely people, can you help me get out of my food rut? If you would be so kind I’d like you to donate a recipe (comment below or email, up to you!). You don’t have to think one up specially, just something that you eat regularly. It can be anything you like and you dont need to post all the details, just the name of the dish if you prefer (even if it’s your take on egg and chips, thats fine!), anything to give me some inspiration and you might find some too!
What’s in it for you? Pass it on! Ask someone you know to donate a dish, it just might perk up your weekly meals. How nice would it be to have book full of recipes made by people you actually know or have spoken to? Well I think that would be lovely.
Finally, I will post entries each week of the recipes I try (hoping I get some!). In the meantime, rarebit pork chops for tea tonight, courtesy of the internet…
Please donate generously ♥

I’m not much of a cooker but I know this very simple Greek recipe for a refreshing and tasty salad: Chop some lettuce and add finely chopped green onions and dill. Just a touch of salt if you want though it’s not necessary. No oil, no nothing more! I hope you like it 🙂

I really like vegetable crumble:
1. saute onion, garlic, carrot, parnips and whatever else you fancy till start to get tender, then add veggie gravy/herbs etc to taste. I also add nuts (preferably chestnuts)
2. put in casserole dish and top with crumble – add seeds or nuts etc to the crumble mix too if you want and/or top with grated cheese
3. cook at 180c till browned & piping hot

Now, you know I’m hardly Nigella (not a bad thing!) but I am really inspired by Willie Harcourt-Cooze (Willie’ Wonky Chocolate Factory). We have the recipe book and have tried some of the savoury dishes that use cacao – blimmin’ gorgeous. Here’s a chicken one which you could try:

You can get the 100% cacao online – one bar lasts months because you only need a dash of it.
Enjoy xx

Great recipe – if you were to serve it in a bowl that was made by a local potter then it would be just perfect! http://blog.sidestreetstudio.com/wood/10-reasons-why-you-should-buy-local-arts-crafts/
